Hammersley Decorative Bell Fine Bone China Floral The Danbury Mint Vintage
This is a lovely Hammersley China Ltd., Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England, bell made for the Danbury Mint Bells of the World's Great Porcelain Houses collection.
It is decorated in a style which has long been popular among England's Staffordshire potteries. The delicately drawn, naturalistically painted flowers are enhanced by lovely molded pattern in low relief. The influence of 18th-century, "family rose" Chinese porcelain can also be seen. Named for the new opaque rose shades which were introduced around 1730, it is dominated by shades of pink and carmine, complemented by shades of mulberry, yellow and violet blue. Like the famous Chinese porcelain, this fine Hammersley bell is remarkable for the freshness of its colors.
